The desire to depict the unique beauty of Korean culture through cinema drove IM Kwon-taek to relentlessly challenge himself.
Chihwaseon (2002) is the fruit of such endeavors, and the Cannes International Film Festival honored IM's artistic spirit with
the Best Director Award. In 2005, the Berlin International Film Festival awarded him the Honorable Golden Bear in recognition
of his unwavering commitment to filmmaking. His recent film Hanji (2011) is a cinematic experiment that crosses the boundaries
between documentary and fiction. Thus IM’s life as a director is ongoing, as he pushes the boundaries of his film world to this day.
